Step-by-Step: New Voter Registration (Form 6)
Visit NVSP Portal
Go to voters.eci.gov.in — the National Voters Service Portal.
Click "Register as New Voter"
Click on "New Voter Registration" which opens Form 6. You may need to create an account or login first.
Fill Personal Details
Enter your full name, father's/mother's/husband's name, date of birth, gender, and other personal details.
Enter Address & Constituency
Fill your present address details. The system will auto-detect your Assembly and Parliamentary constituency based on your address.
Upload Photo & Documents
Upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned copy of age proof document.
Verify & Submit
Review all details and submit the application. Note down the reference number for tracking.
BLO Verification
A Booth Level Officer (BLO) will visit your address for physical verification. Keep your original documents ready.
Name Added to Electoral Roll
After successful verification, your name is added to the electoral roll. You'll receive an SMS confirmation.
Download e-EPIC or Receive Card
Download your digital Voter ID (e-EPIC) from Voter Portal. Physical EPIC card will be delivered by the BLO or at the ERO office.
How to Download e-EPIC (Digital Voter ID)
Visit Voter Portal
Go to voterportal.eci.gov.in
Login with Mobile Number
Login using your registered mobile number + OTP or EPIC number.
Go to e-EPIC Download
Navigate to "Download e-EPIC" section in your dashboard.
Download PDF
Download your e-EPIC in PDF format. This is a valid, digitally signed document accepted everywhere.
Check Your Name in Electoral Roll
Enter your name, father's name, age, state, district, and constituency to search. Alternatively, search by EPIC number directly for faster results.
Voter ID Correction (Form 8)
If there are errors in your Voter ID (name spelling, photo, address, age, etc.), you can apply for correction:
- Visit NVSP Portal and login
- Select "Correction of Entries in Electoral Roll" (Form 8)
- Enter your EPIC number and details to be corrected
- Upload supporting document for the correction
- Submit the form — corrections are processed within 15-30 days

You must be at least 18 years old on the qualifying date (January 1 of the year). You can apply at 17+ and your name will be added to the roll when you turn 18.

You can vote using other approved photo IDs (Aadhaar, Passport, DL, PAN, etc.) as long as your name is in the electoral roll. However, EPIC is the primary document for voting.
Apply for "Shifting of Residence" (Form 6) on the NVSP portal. Fill in your new address, upload address proof, and submit. Your name will be transferred to the new constituency's electoral roll.
Visit NVSP portal or use the Voter Helpline App. Login, select "Aadhaar-EPIC Linking", enter your Aadhaar number, and verify with OTP. This is voluntary but recommended by ECI.
